OxCIN Global Scholars
The OxCIN Global Scholars (formerly WIN Global Scholars or WINGS) programme aims to build links between OxCIN and MRI researchers in the Global South. Scholars will continue their research projects at their current institution, while being remotely affiliated with OxCIN for one year. During their tenure, they will receive a range of training opportunities and interact with OxCIN researchers.
WHAT IS the global scholars programme?
Each year, 2-5 early-career researchers join OxCIN’s network as Global Scholars. Scholars are typically students or post-docs currently conducting neuroimaging research in the Global South. During this time, Scholars will receive training on MRI Physics and Analysis, interact with OxCIN researchers, and participate in scientific and career development events.
Activities that Global Scholars participate in include:
- Training on the MRI Graduate Programme (fees waived), which covers the theory and practice of MRI neuroimaging, including physics and analysis.
- Pairing with an OxCIN researcher at a similar career stage and with common research interests, who will help the Scholar integrate into the centre remotely.
- Participating in workshops and courses, including career development and writing and presentation skills.
- Presenting at the annual Global Scholars Symposium, where scholars and their home supervisors will be invited to present their research to the OxCIN community.
Scholars will be able to extend their professional network and, in some cases, may foster new collaborations with OxCIN researchers that continue past their one-year official tenure. Crucially, they will be expected to translate the knowledge and skills they acquire to their local research environment.
